Fans of extreme cinema - rejoice!


Magnus Blomdahl (director of Revisiting Melancholie der Engel (2017)) have written two books on underground horror cinema that I personally would define as essential reading for any horrorhound - Äkta Skräck/True Horror 1 (2011) and 2 (2017).

There’s only one problem - they’re only available in swedish.

Until now…

Magnus have been working on a translation of the two books to be released in english as one great volume of interviews with masters of the macabre and stories from his travels to talk to people some would avoid at any cost.

But to get the book done some help is needed. Therefore Magnus started a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo to make sure the fans could help out if they want and are able to.

I have to say - I have read the original books and they offer a unique glimpse into a hidden world. It’s the deep web of cinema and he offers us to take a peek into the minds of the people behind our nightmares and pleasures.

We have about two weeks left before the campaign ends, so please - help his writings reach a bigger audience by donating (if you can) and spreading the word.

Even I would be eternally grateful for your help.

Engelsk recension: An interesting look at something I thought I would never know more about. Image borrowed from HORRORZONE.RU (As a non native English speaker I excuse myself for bad wording. Enjoy the review!) As soon as I heard about "Revisiting Melancholie der Engel" I had to pre-order the DVD: I just couldn't miss out on a documentary about the one movie in recent years I couldn't finish. I remember hearing about Marian Doran for the first time. It was because of his movie "Cannibal" (2006). I was in shock, just hearing about it. I have always had a fascination for the Meiwes case (still do) so a movie about the "found footage" itself - the crime in itself - really intrigued me. That movie left me with a bad taste in my mouth and a sensation of being hollow on the inside. I loved it. I had witnessed a true horror film. It is not at all a bad film, let's get that straight. Most moviegoers like to have a cute jumpscare here

Recension: Murder-Set-Pieces (2004)

Ojojo, som denna film försöker vara kontroversiell med sitt naket och blod. Men en sak, glöm att denna skulle varit en NC-17 (alltså 18års gräns). Handlingen (?) är obefintlig i stort. En fotograf fotar och mördar kvinnor? Typ det. Ett par kända ansikten dyker upp. Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination), Gunnar Hansen (Motorsågsmassakern) och Edwin O'Neal (också från Motorsågsmassakern). Detta förmodligen endast för nån ville ha en bil, en annan betala ett lån och den tredje hade typ ingen karriär längre. Regissören, Nick Palumbo (som typ inte gjort mer än den här och en annan seriemördarfilm innan) själv är den som spridit all kontrovers om filmen för ingen vettig människa hade gjort det. Det som förvånar mig är att folket bakom den störande trilogin August Underground gjort specialeffekterna och de är verkligen inget att hänga i julgranen. Det är som att nån skvätt en hink fakeblod över scenografin och sagt: "Okej, det duger bra!" sen dragit. Slutet är bara jävl
